Samsung Galaxy S25+: What to Expect from Samsung in 2025

Both Samsung and users did not consider the Samsung Galaxy S+ to be the best of the S-series. According to a Counterpoint Research survey from the previous year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra accounted for 52% of overall sales, followed by the tiny S24 at 27% and the Galaxy S24+ at 21%.

And that was with significant improvements over the S23+, including a significantly larger battery, 12GB of RAM, and a new LTPO display with QHD+ resolution. It’s not a huge improvement, but it’s better than what the S24 had.

According to Samsung, the next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on January 22. Pre-orders will begin the following day and last for around two weeks if all goes according to the regular plan. Since open sales often begin on Fridays, January 31 is most likely the day.

We expect that Samsung will continue to give free storage upgrades to pre-orderers this year. With a reservation, you can receive $50 in Samsung credit if you’re in the US.

Body Design and Battery Specs

Samsung is anxious to go for faster charging, but it could have at least given the 2025 phones a few hundred milliamp hours more. The Galaxy S25+ weigh 190g and measure 7.3mm thick, compared to 7.7mm and 196g for the S24+. The slimmed down chassis won’t have an adverse effect on the battery capacity; you will still get the same 4,900mAh with the same 45W wired and 15W wireless charging, which is nice, but the competition has advanced.

According to rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, the fourth member of the S25 series, will be even thinner (as thin as 6.5mm), have a 6.66″ display, the same Snapdragon 8 Elite, and superior cameras (200MP primary, 50MP ultra-wide, and telephoto). For further information, see our article on what to expect.

This begs the question: why would someone choose the Galaxy S25+ over the S25 Slim except price? Timing may also be a factor, as we recently learned that the Slim would be delayed by several months, only launching in May. But aside from that, if the reports are accurate, the Slim will unquestionably be the superior phone.

For the S25 series, Samsung will implement the Qi2 standard, as you may have heard. We’re presuming 15W because there’s no mention about quicker charging speeds. Although third-party shops currently sell these cases for older S-series phones, Samsung will use them to partially embrace the magnetic side of Qi2.

One of the biggest supporters of AI on mobile devices is Samsung, and owners of newer S-phones have been utilizing Galaxy AI for free. For older models at least, the “free” element may be ending this year. However, a complimentary Gemini Advanced subscription might be offered to Galaxy S25 customers.

Typically, Google’s most expensive plan costs $20 per month and comes with 2TB of Google Drive and access to the most sophisticated Gemini models. Still, this promotion won’t last long. In contrast to S25 and S25 Ultra customers, who will receive three and twelve months, respectively, the S25+ will split the difference and receive Advanced for six months.
