Google Opens Applications for 9th Africa Startup Accelerator Program – Apply Here

Google has announced it is now accepting applications for the 9th group of its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program. This is a special 3-month training course made to help African startups that use artificial intelligence (AI) to solve problems. The program will start in June 2025 and will help between 10 to 15 selected companies grow bigger and better.
What This Program Offers Startups
The Google for Startups Accelerator gives many free benefits to help young companies succeed:
- Training Sessions – Startups will learn important skills through both online classes and in-person meetings. The training covers:
- How to make better products
- How to find more customers
- How to be a good leader
- How to use AI technology well
- Expert Help – Each startup will work directly with Google’s own engineers and business experts. These Google workers will give advice and help solve problems.
- Money for Google Cloud – Selected companies will get up to $350,000 worth of free Google Cloud services. This helps them run their online operations without big costs.
- New Google Tools – Startups will get early access to Google’s newest technologies before other companies.
- Investor Meetings – At the end in August, there will be a Demo Day where startups can show their work to people who might give them money to grow.
- No Cost – Google does not charge any money for this program and does not take any ownership of the companies that join.

Why This Program is Important for Africa
Google believes African startups can use AI to solve many of the continent’s biggest problems. Folarin Aiyegbusi, who leads Google’s startup work in Africa, explains: “African startups understand Africa’s problems best. If we give them the right tools and training, they can create solutions that help millions of people.”
Research shows that AI could add $1.3 trillion to Africa’s economy by 2030. But this will only happen if young tech companies get proper support. Google made this program to provide that support.
