New iPhone 17 Air Design Leaks

Since the iPhone 16 Plus model had the lowest sales of the four models the firm publishes annually, there have been long-standing rumors that Apple may replace it with the iPhone 17 Air (or iPhone 17 Slim) next year.
According to a fresh in-depth report regarding the impending device, the Air will be even smaller than the 6 mm that was rumored to be its thickness last week. It seems like it will have a thickness of 5 to 6 mm. That is extremely unlikely.
The thickness of the iPhone 16s is 7.8 mm, whereas that of the iPhone 16 Pros is 8.25 mm, for comparison’s purposes. The upcoming iPhone Air would surpass its namesake, even though the most recent iPad Air is just 6.1 mm thick. However, Apple appears to be aiming for a similar profile for the thin smartphone, since the latest iPad Pro is 5.1 mm thick.
Some features, such support for physical SIM cards, had to be dropped because to the extreme thinness. Since there isn’t space for a second speaker at the bottom, there is also a single speaker that serves as the earpiece.
Unlike the Qualcomm modems that Apple presently employs, the Apple-designed modem that will be used in the iPhone 17 Air is said to be more compact and power-efficient. In contrast to the Qualcomm processors, this will not support mmWave and thus have poorer overall data throughput.
The iPhone 17 Air’s battery will be less than that of the standard iPhone 16’s 3,561 mAh cell, which is maybe not unexpected given that it will be smaller than current iPhones. Today’s report confirms the usage of a single back camera, which is located in a huge, central camera bump, as previously predicted.
The iPhone 17 Air was previously speculated to have a 6.6-inch screen, an aluminum frame, the A19 CPU, Face ID, the Dynamic Island, a single back camera with a 48 MP resolution, a 24 MP front camera, and 8GB of RAM. In September 2025, it is anticipated to be released alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
