Poco C75 5G Hands-On: Is It Worth the Hype

The Poco C75 5G, which replaced the C65 last year, is the company’s newest entry-level model. With the exception of the look, the C75 is essentially a rebranded Xiaomi A4 model. The non-5G version of the C75 5G that we are examining here has a different chipset and front camera.

You already know what the C75 5G offers if you are familiar with the A4. A 6.88-inch 720p LCD with a refresh rate of 120 Hz is located up front. The non-5G version’s Helio G81 chip has been swapped out for a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2. The non-5G model’s 13MP front camera has been swapped out for a 5MP one, and there is a single functional 50MP camera on the back. Lastly, there is a 5160mAh battery that supports 18W rapid charging.

Poco C75 5G Package

The Poco C75 5G is packaged simply and comes with a 10W charger, a data cord, and the phone itself. The C75 5G does not come with a case, just like the A4 5G. The A4 does, however, come with a 33W fast charger, whereas the C75 only has a basic 10W charger. The difference won’t be significant given that the phone can only charge at 18W, but it’s something to think about.

Body & Design

The Poco C75 5G and the Redmi A4 or Redmi 14C share the same fundamental design; the only things that differ are the colors and materials used. The Poco C75 5G comes in three different colors and has a marbled pattern on the rear. The camera island, which has four cutouts but is actually only one functional unit, is located above that. In contrast to the A4, the Poco C75 5G features a plastic back, while the A4 utilizes a glass one. The rear of the 14C is made of plastic as well, however it has a distinct design.

Like the back, the side frame is made of plastic with a matte surface. The power button, which also includes an integrated fingerprint reader, and the volume controls are located along the right edge of the phone. A headphone jack is located on top, and a USB-C connector with USB 2.0 speed support is located on the bottom of the solo loudspeaker.

There are thick bezels around the 6.88-inch display on the front. In addition, the 5MP front camera is housed in a teardrop notch at the top. There is an earphone above the camera, but it isn’t a loudspeaker. Instead of using a proximity sensor to make calls, the Poco C75 5G uses its touchscreen to detect skin contact.

Display features

The Poco C75 5G boasts a 6.88-inch IPS LCD screen with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 1640 x 720. The display’s stated maximum brightness is 600 nits HBM brightness in intense lighting and 450 nits in normal illumination. The touch sampling rate of the touchscreen is 240 Hz. The screen’s white point is a little too chilly out of the box, but you can adjust it in the display settings.

The display’s peak brightness is considerably decreased when the color scheme is changed to conventional, which also changes the white point to a more conventional D65 value.

Even when using the Saturated preset, the colors are often realistic and not oversaturated because the Poco C75 5G only supports the sRGB gamut. As you may expect, HDR is not supported here. Additionally, streaming apps can only play videos in 1080p.

Battery life & charging

Poco C75 5G’s Li-Ion battery has a capacity of 5160mAh. Although the Indian unit’s package contains a regular 10W charger, the firm advertises 18W PD quick charging. The charging speeds were slow even with a 65W USB-PD charger that we used for testing. If you charge overnight, the battery will take more than two hours to fully charge from the flat, but if you are in a rush, it will truly try your patience. This would be particularly true if you only used the 10W charger that was included.

On the other side, you may easily get more than a day’s use out of a single charge by pairing a smart chip with a comparatively large battery.
